Dr. Suhas S. Haldipurkar
This year the Karmyogi Puraskar was conferred on Dr. Suhas S. Haldipurkar, a distinguished Opthalmologist from Panvel.
He is the medical director of Laxmi Eye Institute, a state of the art ophthalmic institute which he set up 25 years ago.
Besides his exceptional surgical skills, he is highly respected for the charitable ophthalmic services and eye care activities
that he offers to the weaker section of the society in Raigad and Thane Districts. |

Padmashri Dr. Luis Jose De Souza
This year the Foundation conferred the 16TH 'KARAMYOGI PURSKAR' on
Padma Shri Dr. Luis Jose De Souza, Founder, Managing Trustee and Hon. Medical Director of Shanti Avedna Ashram. Dr. De Souza was also Head, Department of Surgery, Tata Memorial Hospital. He is also the Hon. Medical Director of St. Elizabeth Hospital since 1991. |

Dr.V. N. Shrikhande
Dr.V. N. Shrikhande had basic medical education in India, later obtained fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons, England and Edinburgh in 1959. On his return to India he joined the Grant Medical College and G.T. Hospital as Professor of Surgery and Hon. Surgeon in 1962. he is Prof. and head of Department of Surgery at Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences since its inception in 1990. He started his career as a general surgeon in 1962 but over the last 25 years he has acquired National and International fame as an outstanding BILIARY and PANCREATIC surgeon.
He was invited to operate on the then President of India H. E. Dr.Shankar Dayal Sharma at Army hospital in New Delhi.
He has trained trained over 250 surgeons over the last four decades. |

Dr. D. S. Saksena
One of the Founder members of the Foundation, Dr. D. S. Sakena is Hon. Professor and Head, Dept. of Cardio Vascular Surgery, Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Science. He is also a Cardiac Surgeon Advisor to Government of Mauritius, Armed Forces and Railways. The University of Mauritius recently conferred the Doctorate of Science Degree on D.S. Saksena. |
